Dr Katz studied Medicine at Cambridge University (1985-1988) and University College London (1988-1991), qualifying in 1991. He specialised in endocrinology, completing his registrar training at UCLH , the Whittington Hospital and Royal Free Hospital. From 1996-1998, he undertook a 2-year research fellowship, culminating in an MD Thesis on 'obesity and polycystic ovary syndrome'.
In 1999, Dr Katz worked as a registrar in Sydney, Australia, gaining an international perspective on endocrinology. Dr Katz was appointed as a Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology in 2002. From 2007-2012, Dr Katz was Head of The Endocrinology Department at Barnet and Chase Farm NHS Trust. In 2009, Dr Katz was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) - an honour granted to consultants providing the highest standards of care. In 2014, Dr Katz joined the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant Endocrinologist.
