Professor Hasan Tahir is a Consultant Physician in Rheumatology and Acute Medicine. His NHS practice is at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. His main private practice is at Holly House Hospital in east London, Harley Street in central London, Clementine Churchill Hospital and Spire Bushey Hospital in West London.
He trained at Kings College London and completed his specialist training in both general medicine and rheumatology in the North Thames region. He is actively involved both in undergraduate and postgraduate training, education and clinical research.
He is a Chief / Principal Investigator for a large number of clinical trials investigating new biological treatments for autoimmune rheumatic disorders including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis. He was awarded 2 NIHR wards, the most prestigious being the NIHR@ 10 awarded to only 5 researchers nationally.
He is an Honorary Clinical Professor in the Division of Medicine at University College London and Hon. Professor of Clinical Sciences at St Matthews University. He was recently appointed Professor and London Dean of New Vision University, Georgia. His other academic interest includes Sports Medicine.
He was awarded the BSR Best Practice award for Best Emerging Practice. He is an international examiner and chair for the MRCP PACES exam and sits on the clinical exam board.
He has developed a freely available app for SpA patients. The app is called “My SpA” and is a patient focussed app providing instant access to medical information, exercises and assessments to help patients manage their condition.
He has been a TV presenter of a Live Health Show and is actively involved in humanitarian work overseas.
