Dr Patel is a Consultant based at The Royal Free Hospital in London and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at UCL. He graduated from the University of London with specialist training in North West Thames. He was awarded a PhD (Imperial College London) for his work on the effect of diabetes on cellular cholesterol export and HDL cholesterol.

His clinical interests include general endocrinology-thyroid, parathyroid problems and adrenal problems, specialist diabetes care incl. renal disease and lipid management.
He is undertaking clinical trial work at the Royal Free Campus and is the site undergraduate teaching lead for Endocrinology.

Dr Patel is involved in committee work via the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) and the Royal College of Physicians
