Dr Johar obtained his medical degree from Bristol University Medical School in 1994. He completed postgraduate and specialist training within Northwest London Deanery programme at London teaching hospitals including Royal Free, Charing Cross, Watford, and Barnet Hospitals. He achieved a dual accreditation in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine in 2008 and subsequently appointed as a consultant at Royal Free Hospital in London in 2009.
He joined the Cleveland Clinic London in 2024 as a Consultant Physician providing the medical service to the surgical patients undergoing surgery in trauma and orthopaedics, digestive health, and neurosurgery.
He is a member (MRCP) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians London since 2016. He is a member of various professional societies such the International Movement Disorder Society.
Dr Johar has an extensive expertise in providing a comprehensive medical assessment for a broad range of conditions for adults of all ages particularly those living with multiple morbidities, chronic diseases, and frailty syndromes.
His specialist interests are in the management of Parkinson’s disease in older patients, falls, frailty, cardiovascular health, polypharmacy, medication management, bone health and trauma in older patients including their perioperative optimisation and post-operative care.
He has held clinical lead roles in Parkinson’s disease and trauma care at Royal Free Hospital. He led a multidisciplinary community team in Brent collaborating with general practitioners in primary care team in admission avoidance. He is an expert in multi-disciplinary collaborative working agencies to provide holistic care.
He plays an active role in the education and training of the undergraduates and provides clinical and educational supervision to postgraduate trainees.
