Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive, Cosmetic and Hand Surgeon
Mr Abhilash Jain qualified from Guys and St Thomas’ Medical School in 1995 and undertook his surgical training in London. He is currently a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive, Cosmetic and Hand Surgeon at the University of Oxford and Imperial College NHS Trust. In the NHS he undertakes all forms of hand surgery, including paediatric congenital hand surgery, as well as lower limb reconstruction following trauma. He also has a general plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery practice.
He was awarded an MSc and PhD for research looking at the effects of rheumatoid arthritis on the hand. He was the first and only Plastic Surgeon to win a prestigious HEFCE Clinical Senior Lecturer-NHS award and undertakes both basic science and clinical outcome studies in lower limb and hand surgery. He has recently been appointed as the first Surgical Speciality Lead in Plastic and Hand Surgery in the UK to co-ordinate and run multi-centre trials. He supervises higher degree students and is a member of both the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) and British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) Research and Audit Committees. He also sits on the London Deanery STC for Plastic Surgery and is a member of the BAPRAS Education Committee.
He has Adult NHS clinics on Mondays at Charing Cross and Paediatric Clinics at St Marys. He has private clinics on Tuesday evenings, Wednesdays and Saturday mornings at the BMI Garden and Wellington Hospitals. He can see patients at other private hospitals in London by special arrangement.
He is available to present to GP practices on Tuesday and Friday lunch times.
