Michael Machesney qualified from University College London in 1990 and gained the English FRCS in 1994. His postgraduate training in general surgery was completed in London.
His specialist interest is in coloproctology. He was trained in laparoscopic colorectal and biliary surgery by Professor Roger Motson. His research interests include wound healing, scarring, laparoscopic and colorectal surgery.
At Whipps Cross University Hospital Mr Machesney is Lead Clinician for Colorectal Cancer. He also holds an Honorary Consultant position at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, where he performs complex intestinal and colorectal operations with the surgeons from the Regional Plastic Surgery Centre.
