Dr Pollock qualified in Medicine from the Royal London Hospital in 1976. His initial medical training included working in obstetrics and gynaecology and a period working as a GP in Canada. Subsequently he trained in paediatrics mainly in London, but also included a period as a senior resident in Boston Childrens Hospital, USA. He undertook research at the Brompton Hospital London and Guy's Hospital with Professor John Warner into food and food additive intolerance and house dustmite allergy. Dr Pollock gained accreditation in general paediatrics.
He was appointed to his present position of Consultant Paediatrician and Chair of Department in 1993 and 2002-2008 as Clinical Director for Women's and Children's Division and Deputy Medical Director at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals Trust.
Dr Pollock runs a busy paediatric allergy service with a paediatric allergy nurse and paediatric dietician in North London. He also undertakes paediatric allergy clinics with Professor John Warner at St. Mary's Hospital, London. Recent research topics include a nationally funded study into the effect of water softeners on childhood eczema and also novel topical treatments for atopic dermatitis with publications and reviews on these topics. Weekly private clinics are held at Kings Oak Hospital, Enfield.
